How it all works

Hudson House Rural Resource and Enterprise Centre opened its doors to the public on 24 January 2003. Hudson House is a one-roof centre where local people and visitors to Swaledale and Arkengarthdale can gain access to a diverse range of amenities which otherwise would not be available because of the remoteness of the two dales.

In response to the demand for Hudson House's facilities, we have extended into another building on our site - The Barn, which has allowed us to develop the facilities we are able to provide for businesses. This self contained building has full access for people with difficulty walking.

Hudson House Ltd is a community-led Company Limited by Guarantee set up to run and provide services from a number of organisations.

Each of the Partners pays a licence fee to occupy space in the building, which helps Hudson House be financially independent. Three affordable flats were created on the first floor.

Hudson House is a driver for regeneration in the two dales. The Company looks beyond the building, taking its lead from local people and providing local services at the heart of the local community.......
